Wisconsin teen facing life in prison after alleged homicides

A Wisconsin man is facing homicide charges after being accused of fatally shooting two men. According to reports, the 18-year-old was in a Milwaukee apartment on April 21, talking to a 34-year-old about buying a gun, when the 18-year-old allegedly shot the other man six times. Police allege the 18-year-old then shot another man, aged 32, four times before taking money from the first man and leaving the apartment. Both of the injured men died.

The 18-year-old was formally charged with the use of a dangerous weapon and two counts of first-degree intentional homicide on Aug. 25. At the time of the reports, the 18-year-old was in Milwaukee County Jail and could be facing a life sentence.

An arrest warrant was put out for a 60-year-old man on Aug. 25, who has been charged with harboring and aiding a felon in relation to the deaths. He is accused of driving the 18-year-old away from the scene and could face a 10-year prison sentence if he is convicted.

Homicide charges, like any violent crime allegations, are very serious, but there are defense strategies available that can help defendants depending on the details of the case. Whether or not the defendant intended to kill the person can be a factor, and it is possible for both evidence and witness testimonies to be challenged in court.

In some situations, an attorney may believe that entering a plea bargain is a better option than going trial. Both of these strategies have their pros and cons, and defendants should always seek to understand exactly how the laws apply to their cases and what the possible outcomes are before making any decisions.
