Funeral costs can be a challenging burden to bear

One of the biggest financial challenges for people who lose a loved one unexpectedly is paying for the funeral. The fact of the matter is that funerals aren't inexpensive endeavors. In fact, recent estimates note that a funeral will cost an average of $8,000 to $10,000, which is a considerable increase over the older average of $6,000.

The cost of a funeral includes several expenses. The average cost of a casket is around $2,300. Embalming and preparing the body for the funeral is around $600. Getting the death certificates, the hearse fees, and other miscellaneous costs can average $600. The funeral director might charge an average of $1,500 just for basic services. The ceremony itself is likely to cost around $1,000.

You also have to include the cost of burial. This includes the grave plot and burial fee, which can run around $2,000. The headstone or grave marker can cost at least $1,000 or more depending on the style. While those are included in the average funeral cost of $8,000 to $10,000, these charges sometimes come as a surprise to the family members who are trying to make their loved one's final arrangements.

For some people, that financial burden will be too much to bear. Those individuals might choose to seek compensation for their loved one's untimely death in an effort to be able to cover the costs of final expenses. By filing a wrongful death lawsuit in Wisconsin, you could hold the person who claimed your loved one's life accountable and seek the financial help that can assist you.
